HELP FOR CHILDREN

Is your child having difficulties at school?
Is he/she forgetful and does he/she not seem to pay attention to what you say?
Does he/she display odd behaviour that you do not fully understand?
Is he/she aggressive toward himself/herself or others?
Does he/she not show you the affection you expect?

If the answer is yes, it’s worth seeking a professional opinion to better comprehend the nature of specific behaviours and difficulties your child may be experiencing. Do not wait hoping that they will change and get better with time. Early diagnosis and prompt intervention are the keys to a better recovery and a therapeutic success.

Help can be provided for:

  • Learning Disorders and other educational concerns
  • Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder – ADHD

Assessment and clinical diagnosis

A complete psychological and educational assessment, aimed at a full comprehension of the psychological, social, emotional and cognitive skills of your child, will be undertaken which may require up to 5 sessions of observation and interaction with them. Standardised psychometric tests are part of the diagnostic protocol.

The family and the school should be involved in the diagnostic process as much as possible because they are essential parts of the child’s life.

A trusting and collaborative relationship between psychologist, parents and teachers is necessary for the benefit of the child and a better comprehension of his difficulties.

Parents will be provided with a comprehensive clinical report which includes a clear explanation of the diagnostic protocol, results of the tests administered, clinical diagnosis and treatment plan with detailed recommendations to be followed to implement the plan.

The diagnosis is not the end but only the first step of the psychological intervention.

Therapy options include:

  • Play Therapy
  • Behavioural Therapy
  • Social Skills Training
  • Family and parent Counselling
  • Teacher support
